Belinda Bencic v Sloane Stephens

A very interesting round two matchup will see Bencic take on Stephens. Surprisingly they only placed once before and Stephens actually won that match which took place a very long time ago in Miami in 2015. Since then Bencic became a much better player and she’s been the better player of the two in recent years.

Bencic has quietly put together a really superb season with a 38-17 record overall and hard courts have been good for her as well (13-8). She didn’t play in Guadalajara last year but she generally does well on courts like these and the altitude is something that will help her hit winners.

Stephens likes to play that way too and she moves around the court rather well but her consistency has been the issue. She looked better recently with some solid wins but Bencic still presents a huge challenge for her. The Swiss player took down Fernandez in three sets demonstrating very good form.

Take her to win a competitive one.

Tip: Bencic to Win, Over 20.5 Games: 11/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Aryna Sabalenka – Liudmila Samsonova

Another interesting matchup comes between heavy hitters Sabalenka and Samsonova. Both of them play their best tennis on fast surfaces and both like to attack and are capable of hitting winners which makes this one a really interesting one.

The altitude will play in both’s favour but the one who serves better will have the advantage. Traditionally, Sabalenka has had an amazing serve but she struggled with it a lot this year and Samsonova is a bite sturdier in that regard. Both played well recently but Sabalenka is trending upward while Samsonova is trending downward.

Even so, the Russian is favoured in this spot and I’m not sure it’s the right side. She is more consistent in her game but her best is far under the best of Sabalenka. It’s hard to pick either side because there are so many things that could swing the match so we’ll back a competitive one.

Tip: Over 20.5 Games: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Paula Badosa v Victoria Azarenka

Paula Badosa and Victoria Azarenka are good friends who know each other well. They played doubles together and they’ve played in a very good final last year in Indian Wells. Badosa won that match but Azarenka won the only one played today.

The Spaniard had a really good time in Guadalajara last year as she played in the final but lost to Garbine Muguruza. Azarenka has not played at the WTA Finals last year but she has a really solid game that can hurt Badosa if she misfires to often.

Badosa has been the better player recently playing better tennis overall as Azarenka’s season has largely been a mess overall. She did have a good start here but I’m not sure she will win this match. Azarenka is slightly favoured and while I do think she will keep it fake I would favour Badosa here. Competitive one either way.
