Hubert Hurkacz v Frances Tiafoe Head to Head
It is 2-2 from their previous meetings. Tiafoe won in Washington and the NextGen Finals in 2018, while Hurkacz won in Winston-Salem in 2019 and in Indian Wells last year.

Hubert Hurkacz brings a 38-19 season record to Vienna. It’s been the best season for the Polish player in terms of the number of wins accumulated on the tour and thanks to his consistency he has not seen a lot of fluctuation in the rankings.
Currently ranked no. 11, Hurkacz won his fifth career title by beating Daniil Medvedev in the Halle Open final. The win extended his prefect record in finals to 5-0. But that perfect run ended in Montreal, where he reached a second final of the season. However, for the first time the Pole lost a title clash, falling to Pablo Carreno Busta.
Apart from the two finals, Hurkacz has been a semifinalist thrice this year and has fallen in the quarterfinals four times.
His recent form has been pretty good. In the last three tournaments, the 25-year-old had a semifinal finish in Metz, and reached the quarterfinals in Astana and Antwerp last week.
Hurkacz, who has three top 10 victories this year, will be hoping to break back into the top 10 with a strong showing in Vienna but faces an extremely tough opener against a player in top form.

Tiafoe Solid in Recent Times
Last year’s Vienna Open finalist Frances Tiafoe comes to this year’s tournament in great form.
The American, who is currently sitting on a career-high ranking of no. 17, has been brilliant since the start of the U.S. Open, where he reached his first Grand Slam semifinal.
Tiafoe then recorded a win over Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Laver Cup and followed it up with a run to the final in Tokyo. But he could not add to the only title that he won in Delray Beach in 2018 as he went down to Taylor Fritz.
The final was his second of the season. He had also lost the title clash in Estoril earlier this year. Overall Tiafoe is 32-22 this season but he is 11-4 in the last 15. Most recently he played in Stockholm last week, winning his second round match against Elias Ymer but falling to Emil Ruusuvuori in the quarterfinal. In fact it turned out to be a completely one-sided contest in the Finn’s favour.
The American will be hoping to quickly put that disappointment behind him and remain strong on the back end of the tour.
Hurkacz v Tiafoe Prediction and Tip
Hurkacz has been good throughout the year, but on recent form, Tiafoe has looked the better of the two. So expect a close contest with Tiafoe edging through in three.
