Aryna Sabalenka v Jessica Pegula Head to Head
Sabalenka leads 3-1; they last met in the 2022 Rome Open where the Belarusian won in the round of 16 in straight sets.

Pegula is Still in Contention
It has not been the best of debuts for the World No. 3 Jessica Pegula in the WTA Finals. She has lost both of her robin-round fixtures to Maria Sakkari in straight sets and Ons Jabeur in three.
She was also beaten in the doubles draw alongside Cori Gauff, failing to bag a win on the whole in Texas.
That said, there is still a glimmer of a chance that she can reach the semis – but it all boils down to the Jabeur-Sakkari match and a bunch of math.
Pegula is ranked #4 in the Group Nancy Richey, and for her to move past the robin round, she will need to beat Sabalenka and hope for Sakkari to dismiss Jabeur in straight sets. Even then, it will boil down to the set-win percentage – something that Ons is boasting handsomely at the moment.
All things considered, Jessica has played well this week. Although she went down, she went down fighting. With Sakkari, she lost in straight-set tiebreaks, while with Jabeur, it was 6-1, 3-6, 3-6.

Sabalenka, the Clear Favourite
Aryna Sabalenka, current World No. 7, is in a precarious situation after losing to Maria Sakkari 2-6, 2-4. That win follows a three-set, well-earned win over Jabeur in the first robin-round match.
With a win and a loss each, she is tied with the Tunisian for a place in the semis. However, her set percentage is still more reasonable at 40% (2-3) as compared to Ons’s 50% (3-3) and Pegula’s.
In addition, a win here will certainly improve Sabalenka’s chances, while a loss will keep her in competition too – after which it becomes a game of math. All in all, Aryna needs to ensure a strong, commanding match.
At this point, past pedigree does not matter much – which, albeit – is quite sound with numerous WTA 1000 titles, three Grand Slam semifinals, and a stellar doubles record.
Sabalenka v Pegula Prediction and Tip
This match is Sabalenka’s to lose; she has the form, momentum, and a head-to-head lead over Pegula. Her prospects of advancing are also better than the American’s, which should certainly bolster her confidence ahead of the Friday showdown.
Tip: Sabalenka to Win, Over 20.5 Games: 11/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
