Cori Gauff v Danka Kovinic Head to Head

Having gotten past opponents of higher pedigree than Lin Zhu in her first two rounds, Gauff did not waste any time in defeating her Chinese opponent in the quarterfinal to continue her march.
Gauff was on court for a mere hour and 17 minutes in her 6-3, 6-2 demolition of Zhu to seal her semifinal berth.
Slamming eight aces and winning 89% of her first serve points, Gauff faced no break-points in the encounter while carving out three breaks of serves at the same time. It could have been a lot worse for Zhu had Gauff not frittered away 10 other breaking opportunities in the match.
Having not won a single title last season, Gauff is now a couple of steps away from clinching her first here and given the manner in which she has sent players packing it looks like a matter of how and not whether she will win this one.

Kovinic Tames Kuzmova
In much like the same manner as Gauff handed Zhu a defeat, Kovinic also spent very little time on court as she overcame Viktoria Kuzmova in her last eight encounter.
It was an identical scoreline of 6-3, 6-2 with Kovinic needing an hour and 11 minutes on court.
Also like the Gauff match, Kovinic wasn’t challenged even once when it came to break-points while she herself got herself nine opportunities, of which she took three.
This win follows Kovinic’s straight-set rout of Nao Hibino in her opener before she took down Lauren Davis in a hard-fought three-setter.
Now, coming up against Gauff, she will face the toughest challenge of the tournament but having reached the semifinal, Kovinic has already made it her best performance in a hardcourt competition since October 2016.
