Tsitsipas Looking For Revival at Marseille
Greek ‘Next Gen’ sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas is the top seed at the ATP 250 at Marseille and he will be looking to reverse what has thus far been a disappointing February for him. Tsitsipas had a successful Australian Open where he qualified for the semi- finals defeating Swiss legend Roger Federer en route.
However, both the ATP 250 at Sofia and the ATP 500 at Rotterdam saw disappointing early losses for Tsitsipas. Having started as a strong favorite at both tournaments and unable to deliver, Tsitsipas will be looking for a strong run this week and at Dubai next week, heading into the Sunshine Masters in March.
With a powerful serve, attacking groundstrokes and no hesitation in coming to the net, Tsitsipas’ game should be suited well to the hard courts at Marseille. Tsitsipas received a first round bye at the tournament.
Hurkacz Looking to Build on First Round Success
22-year-old Polish Hubert Hurkacz has been on the ATP circuit for about a year now and has a career high ranking currently of number 73. Hubert is a giant server, at 6’5” and has a strong backhand and forehand. Relatively new to the tour, consistency, to back up his powerful game has been an issue for him.
Hubart had a few successful matches in 2018 that propelled him up the rankings and enabled him to qualify for the year end Next Gen finals in Milan. The Pole had a good first round win here at Marseille against more seasoned Serbian Filip Krajinovic in two comfortable sets.
Hurkacz will be hoping for a good serving day, backed up by his attacking game, against Tsitsipas.

Hurkacz is a talented upcoming player with a lot of potential and a big serve, and can definitely provide a tough challenge to Tsitsipas. Tsitsipas, on the other hand, has matured immensely in the last 12 months. Despite an indifferent last two weeks, his game has been consistently solid in recent times. With confidence, form and the desire to deliver on his side, expect a straight sets win for Tsitsipas.
