Laslo Djere v Constant Lestienne Head to Head
This will be their first meeting.

Djere Stuns Ruud
Nobody expected Laslo Djere to defeat Casper Ruud but that’s exactly what happened when they met in the previous round of the event.
Djere played a fabulous event hitting his serve at a very high level and causing lots of problems for Ruud. Ruud controlled the match to start winning the opening set but ran into problems later on as Djere simply played the rallies better.
It was a shock to see the Serbian take the final set tiebreak 7-3 but he was the better player and will eye a semi-final against Lestienne. Djere is 3-1 so far this year and he’s looking quite good on these fast surfaces.
Most of that comes from his serve which is working well and it will be the key for him as long as he remains down under. Both of his matches in Auckland lasted three sets so there might be some fatigue there but he’s playing good so doubting him is wrong.

Lestienne Benefitting From Good Draw
Constant Lestienne got a really good draw in Auckland and he is taking advantage of that making it to the quarterfinal.
The French player got to Pedro Cachin in round one and he won that match comfortably. He then played fellow French player Gregoire Barrere who bested John Isner and he was able to win that matchup as well, albeit in three sets.
Lestienne improved dramatically last year, especially on hard courts and he’s been a solid performer ever since then. It’s possible that he might become even better and possibly enter the top 50 but I need to see it first. He’ll have a chance to book a semifinal here and he should be motivated.
He’s 2-1 so far this year and he can play on these fast courts. He went 25-6 last year so that should tell you that he can win this match.
Djere v Lestienne Prediction and Tip
Laslo Djere is the better player overall for now but he’s certainly capable of losing this match as Lestienne plays really well on hard courts. Both started the year well but the serve is a major advantage for Djere. It’s still pretty close so the over is another option.
