Jack Draper v Soon-woo Kwon Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came as recently as the last week where the pair met in the first round of the Adelaide International 1. Draper had carved out a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kwon in that match.

It was only last week at this very venue that Draper and Karen Khachanov had faced off in a second round clash. There was only one winner in that encounter as Khachanov dropped just six games on his way to making it to the last eight stage.
This time around the penny dropped for Draper who came away a winner against his Russian opponent.
Sure, it wasn’t as easy for Draper as it had been for Khachanov last week but even then, a 6-4, 7-6 (3) win in an hour and 47 minutes takes the Brit one step away from making it to his maiden ATP tournament final.
Draper won 80% of his first serve points and faced only two break-points in the entire match but he was broken once, when he served for the match at 5-4. The Brit came through in the ensuing tie-breaker and will now start off a heavy favourite against a qualifier.

Kwon Eases Past Ymer
After getting knocked out in the qualifiers of the tournament, not too many would have expected Kwon to make it as far as the semifinal stage. And yet, here we are, with Kwon taking on Draper for the second time in as many weeks.
And this was thanks to Kwon’s crushing defeat of Mikael Ymer in the quarterfinal, in a match that lasted a mere 61 minutes. The South Korean national came out all guns blazing and won 6-1, 6-2 following his shock upset of Pablo Carreno Busta in the previous match.
With three breaks of serves in the first set, Kwon did not waste too much in taking the lead. While he then lost his serve in the very first game of the second set, Kwon broke right back in the second game and followed it up with two more of the same to cruise through.
Can Kwon now prove to be enough of a thorn in Draper’s flesh and make it to just his second career final?

Draper will know he has a big match coming up against Rafael Nadal at the Australian Open and he wouldn’t want to spend a lot of time on court. If Kwon can put up a solid showing in the opening set, we could see the momentum seriously tilt in his favour.
