Bernarda Pera had her moments in her quarterfinal encounter against Cocciaretto but it was the Italian 21-year-old who came through in a near-three-hour battle.
Cocciaretto endured four breaks of serve and missed 18 chances to break her opponent in return and still came away a 5-7, 7-6 (8), 6-4 winner to win the seesaw encounter.
Having twice gone a break ahead in the opening set, Cocciaretto dropped her serve in the seventh and 11th game to lose the set. In the second, she trailed 3-1 before breaking back and pushing the set into a tie-breaker.
There, Pera went 6-5 and 7-6 ahead but Cocciaretto saved both those match-points before clinching the equaliser off her second set-point.
The final set went on serve till the eighth game but Cocciaretto stormed ahead in the ninth with a break of serve and clinched the encounter off her second match-point.
This win follows victories over Alize Cornet and Jasmine Paolini and gives Cocciaretto a chance to make it to her first career WTA final.

Kenin Makes Comeback Win over Kalinina
Kenin has won the Australian Open but a string of fitness issues in the last couple of years meant she was left without too many tournaments played and wins under her belt.
This one in Hobart seems to be the one which sees the return of Kenin to full fitness and nearly the kind of form that could propel her back into the top 50 of the WTA Rankings very soon.
That very quality of tennis was on display in the quarterfinals against Anhelina Kalinina, especially in the final two sets which she won to clinch the semifinal berth.
Kenin was on court for nearly two hours to get past Kalinina, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to march forward, having defeated Lin Zhu and Marynska Zanevksa in her previous matches.
She will now have an excellent chance of making her first WTA final since October 2020 when she had finished runner-up at the French Open.
