Rinderknech Looking to Improve Grand Slam Record
Rinderknech has a very modest Grand Slam record, and he has never been beyond the second round in any of them, the stage he reached in Melbourne last year.
However, he proved that playing on Australian soil holds no fears for him, reaching the final in Adelaide a few weeks before that, before going down in three sets to Thanas Kokkinakis.
On the way he had beaten Karen Khachanov, his first win over a top ten player.
That remains his one senior final, although he did reach two on the Challenger tour in 2022, winning in Poznan, Poland, and again settling for the runner-up spot to compatriot Constant Lestienne in Vancouver.
Other highlights of the season included becoming the French number one, reaching the semi-finals in Qatar, and several quarter-final appearances, among them Tel Aviv and Basel.
He began his season playing in the United Cup lor France, where he beast Francisco Cerundulo of Argentina, but lost to Borna Coric of Croatia.
Subsequently he lost in the first round of Adelaide to Marc-Andrea Huesler, finishing on the wrong end of a three set battle.

Watanuki Makes Grand Slam Debut
Watanuki will be making his Grand Slam debut, after coming through qualifying in Melbourne.
He began with a comfortable win over Philip Sekulic of Australia, before surviving a much tougher three set test against Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan.
His campaign at that stage of the competition ended with a straight sets win over the higher ranked Chilean Juan Pablo Varillas.
That would have added to the confidence Watanuki would have felt after reaching an all-time career ranking, based on what he did last year.
He reached his first ATP quarter-final in Lyon, where he beat Pedro Martinez, his second ever win over a top 50 player.
And Watanuki ended the season by reaching three Challenger finals in Japan, winning two of them, in Kobe and Yokkaichi.
Rinderknech v Watanuki Prediction and Tip
Rinderknech will want to exert his authority against a player making his Grand Slam debut, and will consider this a good opportunity to start his campaign in Melbourne on a positive note.
