Beatriz Haddad Maia v Nuria Parrizas Diaz Head to Head
Two previous matches have been played between these two at the highest level and both have won one apiece. Their last meeting came at the 2022 Miami Open where Haddad Maia carved out a straight-set win in the first round.

Starting out at the United Cup this season, Haddad Maia won both her singles matches for Brazil. She started off by sending Martina Trevisan packing before overcoming Malene Helgo in the second match.
She dropped a total of eight games in those two encounters.
Unfortunately for her, Brazil failed to qualify for the next stage and Haddad Maia was forced to take part in a second tune-up tournament before the Australian Open.
It came in Adelaide in the lead-up week to the year’s first Grand Slam and again Haddad Maia was reasonably confident in her first two rounds. She sent Sorana Cirstea and Amanda Anisimova packing in those two matches before falling to Paula Badosa in what was her first defeat of the season.
Haddad Maia has a tricky first opponent now as she looks to emulate her performance from all her previous Australian Open appearances.

Parrizas Diaz Makes a Mixed Start to the Season
Like Haddad Maia, even Parrizas Diaz made it to the United Cup as a part of the Spanish team but did not have the best of starts. She fell to Katie Swan in the very first match she featured in there.
While she overcame Madison Inglis in the second match, Spain failed to advance to round two and Parrizas Diaz flew to Hobart to feature in another WTA tournament.
She needed to make it through the qualifiers to enter the main draw where she defeated Mayar Sherif. When faced with a slightly difficult opponent in Yulia Putintseva, however, Parrizas Diaz fell to a quick loss.
Parrizas Diaz’s best season came in 2021 when she won a couple of titles but since then her form has fallen away a tad. What she would hope for is to come up with a solid plan to disrupt Haddad Maia’s game.
