Danka Kovinic v Alycia Parks Head to Head

Kovinic and Parks have never faced off before this in a competitive match.

Parks Sees Out Martic

For the second match in a row this tournament, Parks was involved in a three-setter and for the second successive time she came through to the next stage.

In the first round, Parks was a 1/5 favourite against Julia Grabher but this time around the bookmakers weren’t quite able to decide who the favourite was. Petra Martic, her second round opponent, is a solid player and held a very slight edge because of her experience.

Surely enough, it was Martic who grabbed the first set on the back of two breaks of serves. And while Parks held on to her serve in the second set, she earned just one break-point which she frittered away.

It was in the tie-breaker that followed where the turnaround came for Parks who got the better of her opponent 7-3.

In the decider, Parks saved three break-points in the second game and then broke Martic twice to seal her place in the last eight stage. Can she now make it to her maiden WTA semifinal?

Kovinic Bounces Bondar Out

It took Kovinic two hours and 11 minutes and three sets but in the end she managed to edge out Anna Bondar and reach the quarterfinals of a tournament for the second time this season.

Having already made the semifinal at the Auckland Open earlier this year, Kovinic overcame Bondar 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 and set up this meeting with Parks.

Kovinic endured eight aces from her opponent and three breaks of her own serve in the match as she shrugged off a 4-6, 0-2 deficit before coming into her own. The world number 67 won seven games in a row to level proceedings and while Bondar managed to get things under control for a while in the third set, Kovinic looked to have tasted blood.

She broke Bondar in the eighth game of the decider before serving it out to enter the quarterfinal.

This win follows a straight-set knockout of Viktorija Golubic in the first round and it will now be interesting to see how she handles Parks’ impressive serving come the quarterfinal.

Kovinic v Parks Prediction and Tip

Parks starts off a 4/6 favourite here but we could see a fighting display from Kovinic and a three-setter looks to be in the offing.
