Leylah Fernandez v Shelby Rogers Head to Head
Rogers leads the rivalry 2-1, but it was Fernandez who won their latest meeting, which took place in Indian Wells last year.

Leylah Fernandez needed an hour and 25 minutes to oust Ukraine’s Katarina Zavatska 6-1, 6-4 in the second qualifying round on Monday to make it to the main draw of the Abu Dhabi Open.
The 20-year-old Canadian served seven aces, converted four of 10 break points and saved 3 of 4 to take down the world no. 289.
The aggressive left-hander had beaten Kristina Mladenovic 6-1, 6-2 in the first qualifying round on Sunday.
The 2021 U.S. Open finalist is a two-time champion on the tour. She has featured in two tournaments in 2023 so far, reaching the last eight in Auckland and the second round at the Australian Open.
Ranked no. 39th in the world, Fernandez was 21-15 last year during an injury-hit season. She missed a few tournaments after fracturing her foot during her maiden French Open quarterfinal appearance.

Rogers Rallies Past Frech
After being outplayed in the first set by Magdalena Frech in the second qualifying round on Monday, Shelby Rogers made a remarkable comeback to oust the Pole in three sets and move into the main draw of the tournament.
Rogers could hold just one serve in the opening set, while the world no. 104 broke her twice to draw first blood. But the world no. 46 turned the tables over the next two sets. She got the solitary break of the second set and broke Frech twice in the third to take the contest 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The win followed a 6-2, 6-3 thrashing of Vera Zvonareva in the first qualifying round on Sunday.
Rogers has won just one main draw match this year and that win came in the opening round of the Australian Open against Arianne Hartono. She was beaten in the second round by eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka.
Rogers won both her qualifiers in Adelaide but lost in the first round. She made it to the main draw of Adelaide-2 as a lucky loser and fell in the opening round of that tournament as well.
The 30-year-old American is three-time finalist on the tour. She was 19-20 from all matches last year with her best coming in San Jose, where she was a finalist.
Fernandez v Rogers Prediction and Tip
Fernandez has displayed better form this season, she was also in better form last year and defeated Rogers in their only meeting of 2022. She will be the favourite again, although Rogers could take her to three sets, but the Canadian should come out on top.
