Jannik Sinner v Maxime Cressy Head to Head
They haven’t faced off at the highest level but Sinner did defeat Cressy in their only previous Challenger level match in 2019.

Arthur Fils is a name you would probably hear a lot more in the times to come but for now, in Montpellier, the 18-year-old met his match as he fell to a straight-set loss at the hands of Sinner.
Sinner, who has fallen to 17th in the world, followed up his straight-set win over Lorenzo Sonego with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Fils to enter his first final at the highest level since the Croatia Open last July.
He needed an hour and 35 minutes in which he won 7-5, 6-2, saving both the break-points he faced in the encounter. On the other hand, Sinner broke the inexperienced Fils three times in the match, including twice in the second set after his French opponent had lost some of his early sharpness.
Earlier in the tournament, Sinner had a first round bye before his second round opponent, Marton Fucsovics withdrew from the match.

Cressy Scrapes Past Rune
In a match of very fine margins, Cressy needed three sets and 15 aces to get past the world number nine, Holger Rune in the semifinal.
Such was the power of Cressy’s serving that in a three-setter lasting two hours and 36 minutes, he did not face a single break-point. He won a whopping 93% of his first serve points and not once did the game get to even deuce on his serve.
In turn, Cressy broke Rune once – it came in the 12th game of the opening set – which helped him take the lead. And while Cressy lost the second set in a tie-breaker, it was exactly the same way he won the third set and the match to march into the final.
This will be the fourth time that Cressy features in a final, and much like Sinner the last time he did so was in July last year too. He had won that match to lift his first ever title on the ATP Tour, having lost the two previous finals.
