Laslo Djere v Aleksandar Vukic Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 27 year old Serb, and the Australian, who is a year younger.

Djere’s Modest Masters Record

Djere has a very modest record in Masters’ tournaments, especially away from his favourite surface of clay, and his trip to Indian Wells saw no improvement in that – he was beaten in the first round in straight sets by the German Oscar Otte.

That was the same stage at which he was knocked-out in Miami last year.

The Serb is probably looking forward to the European clay court season, where the surfaces should be more suited to his natural game.

Nevertheless, his chances of a decent run should not be written off completely.

He did make the quarter-finals in Auckland in January, in the course of which run he beat Casper Ruud.

Vukic Qualifies for Second Successive Masters’ Event

Vukic tends to be best known on the main tour for his appearances on home soil in Australia, where he has enjoyed several wildcards into the Australian Open, although this year he was forced to do it the hard way by coming through qualifying, only to go out in the first round.

He had better fortune in Delray Beach, where again he came through qualifying, and progressed through to the second round before losing to the Moldovan Radu Albot.

After an interlude on the Challenger tour, he again came through qualifying in Indian Wells, to earn himself a match with Stan Wawrinka, He lost, but not before taking the former Grand Slam winner to three sets.

Like many who were knocked out of Indian Wells early, he entered the Challenger event in Phoenix, suffering another second round defeat at the hands of the top seed, Matteo Berrettini.

However, he has qualified for his second successive Masters’ event by beating compatriot James Duckworth and Aleksandar Kovacevic of the USA, both in straight sets.

Djere v Vukic Prediction and Tip

Although Djere has a very modest record in Masters’ tournaments, this would seem to be a good opportunity to improve on that against the qualifier ranked 110 places below him in the world.
