Shelby Rogers v Caty McNally Head to Head
Rogers won their only meeting at Charleston 250 in 2021. She had won that match 6-1, 6-0.

Rogers Rebounds to Oust Collins
Shelby Rogers rebounded from a set down to oust 13th seed Danielle Collins in the first round of the Charleston Open.
Rogers served 8 aces , saved 8 of 10 break points that she faced and converted 5 of 9 that she held to beat the world no. 40, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 6-1 in two hours and six minutes.
With the win, Rogers improved her season record to 12-8, but 5 of those wins have come in the qualifying rounds.
Rogers has won consecutive main draw matches only once this season and that was in Abu Dhabi, where playing as a qualifier she reached the quarterfinals but was stopped by Belinda Bencic from advancing further.
The 30-year-old world no. 44 is making her ninth appearance in the tournament but she has made it to the last eight only once and that was in 2017.
She will be looking to build on the start that she had against Collins and take a step closer to the quarterfinal.

McNally Off to a Quick Start
Caty McNally did not have much trouble in dispatching Jule Niemeier in the first round.
The 21-year-old was the first to break in the opening set, but Niemeier responded with a quick break only to see the American break again in the final game and seal the first set.
McNally never looked troubled in the second set and she broke the German twice to script a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
Both players had five opportunities to break their opponent’s serve, McNally converted five of them, while Niemeier could convert just one.
This was McNally’s first main draw win on the tour since March 1, when she defeated Ashlyn Krueger in the first round in Austin. McNally has an overall season record of 6-6 now. Her best this season came in Merida, where she went on to reach the semifinals before going down to Rebecca Peterson.
McNally’s best in Charleston was a round of 16 finish in 2021. Can she equal that this year?
Rogers v McNally Prediction and Tip
Rogers is the superior player in this contest. She is vastly experienced and although she has not made deep runs this season, she has beaten some quality players in Leylah Fernandez, Annett Kontaveit, Sloane Stephens and Collins. Expect her to win the second round contest and get closer to another quarterfinal round.
