Kraus beats Podoroska
Austria’s Sinja Kraus is off to a good start in the Copa Colsanitas 2023, as she beat Nadia Podoroska 6-4, 7-6(4) in a little under two hours. That makes it 3-0 for her this week, having cleared the qualifiers, too, by beating Lena Papadakis and Dalila Jakupovic.
She has spent the last few weeks in Colombia, participating in ITF clay tournaments and building a fair amount of momentum.
In Anapoima, she was the runner-up, and she fell to Arantxa Rus in the final. Kraus followed that with a title run in Mosquera next. Her record is now 12-7, and having just won her first WTA match, she will be eager to improve it further.
Kraus has been striving to improve her position in the rankings for the past few years, and she has been successful largely due to her good performance on clay courts.

Brancaccio in a Similar Boat
Nuria Brancaccio of Italy is having a pretty similar year herself. Ranked career-high at the 206th spot – just 40 places below Kraus – she is set for a massive leap in the rankings soon.
She, too, started as a qualifier in Bogota, where she beat Valentina Aria and Fernanda Gomez. In the opener, Brancaccio went up against Despina Papamichail and knocked her out convincingly 6-2, 6-2.
Nuria has spent the entirety of 2023 on clay courts and reached a couple of finals in Buenos Aires on the ITF tour. It has been the same story for the 22-year-old over the last couple of seasons, reaching 5 finals each on the ITF singles and doubles tour.
Her most notable highlight, however, is the Challenger final in the Bari Open last September.
Kraus v Brancaccio Prediction and Tip
Brancaccio’s chances of winning this one are good, which is why at 1/1, she is a decent bet to back. Kraus isn’t too far behind, either and that fact that she has some hard-court experience may work in her favour.
Expect a cracking affair.
Tips:
- Low-Risk Tip: Kraus to win: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
- Moderate Risk Tip: Brancaccio to win, over 21.5 games: 13/5 (Click Here to Bet with 888Sport)
