In what was her fourth successive win in straight sets, Maria had no difficulty getting past Francesca Jones in the semifinal. Maria won 6-3, 6-4 in a match that lasted an hour and 37 minutes to make it to her third career final.
Before this Maria had won a title on grass back in 2018 and followed it up by doubling her tournament win count in 2022 with a victory at this very competition. She will now hope to make it two in two years after the kind of form she has shown all competition.
Aided by 10 double-faults from Jones, Maria broke her opponent four times in the encounter, including when she was down 2-0 in the second set.
With wins over Katrina Scott, Carolina Alves and Nuria Brancaccio in the previous rounds, Maria will now look to make similar things happen in the title-decider too.

Stearns Overcomes Slow Start against Rakhimova
Having already been taken to three sets by Tamara Zidansek, Stearns needed another three-setter against Kamilla Rakhimova before she managed to carve out a victory.
Down a set, she came came to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in two hours and 16 minutes despite losing her serve a whopping five times. In turn she overcame Rakhimova’s serve on seven occasions, including three times in the second set where she raced off to a 5-0 lead at one point.
In the decider, the in-form Stearns went 4-1 ahead, lost her serve in the sixth game before breaking her opponent again in the seventh game as well. Soon she served out the match to enter her fourth final of the season.
The previous three had come at the ITF circuit and this would be the first time that Stearns would be playing in the title-decider at this level. She does the rhythm having won 24 of the 29 matches she has played this season.
