France will take on Belgium in the Davis Cup Final.

France will take on Belgium in the final of the 2017 Davis Cup. France will be the hosts for the final that will be played between November 24 & 26 this year.

It needed Belgium to come back from 2-1 down on Saturday to overcome Australia in their semi-final that was played in Brussels. World number 12 David Goffin needed four sets to overcome Nick Kyrgios in his reverse singles match before Steve Darcis had a much easier time in the middle against Jordan Thompson.

Darcis won 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 after Goffin had given his team a chance with a 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory over the Aussie Kyrgios, who had recently said that tennis is not that important in his life.

France did not have to go all the way to the fifth match to decide the rubber. It was Jo-Wilfried Tsonga’s win over Dusan Lajovic that helped them take an insurmountable 3-1 lead over Serbia in their semi-final.

Serbia had gone into the match as second favourites in the absence of Novak Djokovic but Lajovic had given them bit of a chance when he surprised Lucas Pouille in the first singles match.

Tsonga defeated Laslo Djere to level things up before Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut overcame Filip Krajinovic and Nenad Zimonjic in the doubles to help them recover in the tie.
