There have been three previous meetings with Musetti leading 2-1. That includes a Wimbledon 2021 meeting in which Hurkacz had won in straight sets.

For the second match in a row, Musetti was at his ravaging best, delivering a straight-set knock-out punch at his opponent.
Jaume Munar might not be the best in the business on grass but the manner in which Musetti played, it looked like his opponent has never been a top-100 player.
Musetti needed two hours and 21 minutes for his 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 win that saw him face and save five break-points in the encounter. In return he got the better of Munar’s serve on five occasions, with his 38 winners and 75% first serve wins aiding him in the cause.
This follows Musetti’s opening round win over Juan Pablo Varillas which had also been in similar circumstances as the Italian won it in three sets. Musetti was given a bit more of a fight there before he came through but the manner in which he has improved so drastically here, it could get tougher for Hurkacz.

Much like Musetti, Hurkacz also did not have a lot of trouble getting past his second round opponent and much like him, the Polish number also made it successive straight-set wins.
Coming into the match at 1/17 to win it – in fact even that was the second time in a row he was pegged at those odds – Hurkacz was on court for a little over two hours to register a 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 (3) victory over Jan Choinski.
Hurkacz faced three break-points but wasn’t broken while he broke his opponent twice. Interestingly, he had 13 such opportunities in the encounter including five in the third set but missed out on all those.
In the first round, Hurkacz had overcome Albert Ramos Vinolas in similar fashion but the stakes will be a lot higher as he takes on a player who has shown his fondness for grass in recent times. Can the world number 18 put up a bit of a fight?
