Max Purcell v Gijs Brouwer Head to Head
There have been two matches between these two, both of which came in the qualifiers of events. They have both won one apiece.
This includes a match on the grass courts of Wimbledon in which Purcell had come through in two.

Purcell’s slowly grown on the rankings charts but a lot of it is to do with his performances on the Challenger circuit. He has already won three titles at that level, all of which have come in hardcourt competitions, all of which came in India in the February-March period earlier this year.
In three of the other tournaments on the Challenger circuit, Purcell made the final too.
Unfortunately for him, he hasn’t been able to translate that showing on the ATP circuit. Of the seven matches Purcell’s featured in at the highest level this season, he has won just two, both of which came on clay.
On grass, he’s played in two tournaments – at Mallorca and Wimbledon – and lost in the first round at both. That defeat at Mallorca to Feliciano Lopez would have been rather disappointing.
He will now hope he can turn things around at what is the final grass court competition of the season.

Brouwer Has Never Won a Main Draw Match on Grass
While Brouwer is no stranger on grass, having played 20 matches on the surface spread across a mere two years – 2022 and 2023 – he is yet to win a main draw match on it.
Last year, he failed to qualify for any top level competition on grass but did show what he is capable of when he made the second round at the Surbiton Challenger and the quarterfinal at the Ilkley Challenger, both times as a qualifier.
This year, Brouwer started off with opening round defeats at Surbiton, Ilkley and the Rosmalen Open before finally getting a win under his belt in the qualifiers of Wimbledon. Brouwer would go on to qualify for Wimbledon for the first time but then lose to Alexander Zverev in his opener.
As such, his performance on grass doesn’t look too off the mark and it does seem like it could be a matter of time before he finally wins a match on it. Could it happen here?
