The 2020 calendar will kick-start with the Qatar Open and the ATP Cup and the second week of the calendar will see the Adelaide International start off as a warm-up for the Australian Open. What Happened at the 2019 ATP & WTA Adelaide International?
This is the first ever edition of the Adelaide International but it must be quickly added this tournament replaces the ATP Brisbane & Sydney International and the WTA Sydney International that were held last year. One of the reasons for the change is the introduction of the new tournament by the name of ATP Cup and the abolishing of the Hopman Cup.
Alex di Minaur was the winner at the ATP Sydney International while the women’s title at that tournament was won by Petra Kvitova when she defeated Ash Barty in the final. Kei Nishikori won the Brisbane International with a three-set win over Daniil Medvedev while Switzerland were winners at the Hopman Cup as the pair of Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic defeated Germany in the final.
