John Isner v Ugo Humbert Predictions & Preview

John Isner and Ugo Humber meet for the second time in their careers in the semi-finals of the ASB Classic in Auckland. The players met on the grass-courts of the Newport Hall of Fame Tournament in 2019, which Isner won in a tight three- setter.

After a disappointing end to 2019, Isner’s season did not get off to the best of starts losing all his matches for Team USA at the inaugural ATP Cup last week.

The ASB Classic saw the 2012 and 2014 title holder get off to a slow start with a tight win against compatriot and defending champion  Tennis Sandgren. Isner’s form got better with a straight set win in two tiebreaks against Britain’s Kyle Edmund and he is again in an Auckland semi-final looking to take home silverware this weekend for the third time in Auckland.

Next Gen Frenchman who broke into the top 100 of the ATP rankings in 2019 and went from strength to strength has had a very positive week. Humbert started his Auckland campaign with a hard-fought win against fellow Next Gen Casper Ruud, and followed it with a  convincing win against Italian Marco Cecchinato.

Pitted against the in-form favorite Denis Shapovalov in the quarter-finals, Humbert broke once in each set to wrap up a confidence boosting 7-5,6-4 win and now looks ready to take a shot at the title this weekend.

A clash between the veteran and the future; expect this to be a tight match. Big-serving Isner to close out in two tight sets seems the likely outcome.

Benoit Paire v Hubert Hurkacz Predictions & Preview

Benoit Paire  and Hubert Hurkacz  meet for the second time in their careers in the semi-finals of the ASB Classic in Auckland. The players met in the final of the Winston-Salem Open last year, where Hurkacz won his maiden ATP title.

After a positive 2019, Hurkacz’s season was off to a strong start where he won all his ATP Cup matches for Team Poland against seasoned players like Dominic Thiem, Borna Coric and Diego Schwartzman, despite Poland not going past the group stages.

After convincing wins against Lorenzo Sonego and Mikail Ymer, the Pole was tested against Spanish veteran Feliciano Lopez, which he came through in a tight three-setter.

French veteran Benoit Paire also had a strong 2019, returning to the top 25 in the ATP rankings and winning two ATP 250 titles.

After an ATP Cup that could have been better for France,  Paire has been  pushed to three sets in each of the three previous matches, but  done well to dig deep and pull through with victories.

An evenly matched clash on the cards with both players hitting good form awaits us. Hurkacz has looked very strong in 2020 and that trend can be expected to continue with a  tight three set win for him here.

Tip: Hurkacz to win in three sets: 2/1 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
