Stefanos Tsitsipas v Milos Raonic Head to Head

This will be the first time that Tsitsipas and Raonic will be facing off at this level.

Mixed Start but Tsitsipas Continues to Remain a Threat

Tsitsipas continues to remain a player to watch but the big question for now is his ability to win seven, best-of-five-sets matches in a row against players of the calibre of the top five there is in the world of tennis today.

So while he defeated Novak Djokovic at Abu Dhabi earlier this year, he then lost to Rafael Nadal in the final. This was followed by a win against Alexander Zverev which was sandwiched by defeats to Nick Kyrgios and Denis Shapovalov at the ATP Cup. Since then, however, he has won two in a row, including one at the Kooyong Exhibition against Matteo Berrettini and the first round match at the Australian Open.

He was to take on Philipp Kohlschreiber in his second round match but his German opponent withdrew from it because of fitness concerns. Now some might argue that gives Tsitsipas some extra time off and rest as a result, but we are talking of a player who featured in a whopping 88 matches last season.

Rhythm and momentum looks to be a bigger key for the Greek at this stage than getting untimely breaks like these and it would be interesting to see whether that affects his play in this third round encounter.

Raonic Barely Played in 2019

The Canadian featured in 36 matches last season which was the least he has played in a year since 2008. Injuries obviously played a part but the former world number three slowly looks to be back in rhythm as was the case in his first two wins at the Australian Open here.

After a shock defeat in the first round in Doha to Corentin Moutet, Raonic participated in the Kooyong Classic where he won his only match against Soon Woo Kwon. And this was followed by back to back straight-set victories at the Australian Open including one against the 36th-ranked Christian Garin in the second round.

Raonic, a quarterfinalist last Australian Open, could prove to be a very difficult opponent given the rhythm he has shown in the tournament so far.

Stefanos Tsitsipas v Milos Raonic Predictions & Tips

This won’t be a straightforward match. Tsitsipas starts off at 4/11 to win this match but there is a good chance Raonic will be able to steal a set at the very least here.
