Dusan Lajovic v Pedro Martinez Predictions & Preview

This will be the second meeting between Dusan Lajovic and Pedro Martinez having previously featured at the Barcelona Open in 2018. In that first round encounter, Lajovic had needed three sets to get past Martinez.

Lajovic is currently enjoying an upswing in his career, having reached a career-high of 23rd in the world. This followed a solid performance at the ATP Cup where he won four of his six matches to help Serbia win the title and then a third round appearance at the Australian Open.

That was his best performance in Melbourne, and with clay being a preferred surface for the Serb, things could get better as he aims to make it into the top 20.

Ranked 142nd in the world, 22-year-old Martinez has his own goals which are different from his opponents. A top 100 berth would be a great place to start and he has done well across these three tournaments he has played in since the Noumea Challenger.

At each of them, the Australian Open, Cordoba Open and now in Buenos Aires, Martinez has needed to qualify to make it to the main draw and he has done that well. At the Australian Open he even made the second round – his first ever win in the main draw of a Grand Slam – and followed it up with second rounders at Cordoba and here.

He might not have the game to overcome Lajovic but expect a fighting clash here that goes to the third set.

Tip: Lajovic to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click here to get these odds with bet365)

Casper Ruud v Roberto Carballes Baena Predictions & Preview

This will be the fourth time Ruud and Carballes Baena will be facing off and for the biggest prize in their match-ups. Casper leads 2-1 with all of the matches having come on clay before this.

Both are clay-court specialists, coming off an ordinary season on hard court surfaces. Ruud was on a three-match losing streak when he finally won his opener here, crushing Pablo Andujar 6-2, 6-3 while Carballes Baena had lost his opener at the Australian Open and then defeated Marco Cecchinato here in straight sets.

Ruud, at 45th in the world is 43 places ahead of his opponent and with similar forms going into this competition, is an obvious favourite at 4/11. Carballes Baena starts at 2/1 and while we expect Ruud to win, this could take a few games on court.

Tip: Over 22.5 games in the match: 26/25 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)

Jozef Kovalik v Pedro Sousa Predictions & Preview

This is the first meeting the 129th-ranked Kovalik and Sousa, who is 145th in the world. Kovalik, who is playing his first clay tournament of the season is on a three-match winning streak which includes a couple of qualifier wins and a straight-set shock victory against Corentin Moutet – a 76th-ranked player in the world.

Sousa is a lucky loser, who needed three sets to get past the 471st-ranked Facundo Diaz Acosta but overcoming Kovalik might not be the easiest for him. Straight set win expected for Kovalik.
