Benoit Paire v Alexander Bublik Predictions & Preview

This is the first meeting between the players. Both players have interesting charismatic personalities and this could make for a fun match for the fans.

Frenchman Benoit Paire was ranked within the top 20 in the world in 2016, but lack of consistency in both his game and temperament have been the reasons for him being unable to capitalize on his innate talent. This saw him fall in the ATP rankings as well over the 2017-2018 seasons.

However, the last year has been a positive one for Paire, winning two titles on the tour and moving up the rankings and is ranked number 20 in the world again.

It has been a mixed season thus far for the Frenchman, who started the season being runner-up to fellow countryman Ugo Humbert at the ASB Classic in Auckland.  A second round loss at the Australian Open to Marin Cilic, followed by opening round losses at Pune and Rotterdam have set the Frenchman on the backfoot thereafter, and he will looking to revive his season imminently.

Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik has been on the tour for a relatively short period of time and has made a mark with his persona’ and playing style already. Bublik made the finals of the Newport Hall of Fame Championships on grass and the ATP 250 Chengdu Open last season.

Ranked just outside the top 50 in the world, Bublik has had starts this season but not managed to convert them both Down Under and on the indoor courts of Montpellier and Rotterdam thus far.

As Paire and Bublik are looking to launch and/or re-launch their 2020 at the earliest; this match should make for some exciting exchanges of temperaments and groundstrokes.

A close match on the cards, where Paire’s experience can be expected to inch through in a deciding third set.

Hubert Hurkacz v Vasek Pospisil Predictions & Preview

This is the first meeting  between two players in good form in recent weeks.

Poland’s Next Gen rising star Hubert Hurkacz had a breakthrough season in 2019, qualifying for the third round at Wimbledon, moving into the top 50 of the ATP rankings and winning his first ATP title on the hard courts of Winston Salem.

2020 got off to a strong start for Hurkacz, who had a good outing at the ATP Cup, winning all his singles matches against Dominic Thiem, Diego Schwartzman and Borna Coric respectively.

He followed the ATP Cup with a semi-final showing at the ASB Classic in Auckland, but lost early at the Australian Open to Aussie John Milman. Hurkacz was drawn against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Rotterdam opener and after being up a set and a break, he was unable to drive home the early advantage.

Hurkacz is currently ranked at a career high number 28, and will look to make an impact here in Marseille. The Pole had a routine first round win against Frenhman Antoine Hoang.

Canadian Vasek Pospisil returned to the tour late last year after a long injury layoff. Once ranked as high as number 25 in the ATP rankings in the middle of the last decade, it has been a difficult road back to the tour following back injuries and surgery.

After a good performance at the Davis Cup for Team Canada at the end of 2019, Pospisil has looked to get better with every tournament this year. The Canadian was a finalist at Montpellier, securing wins against David Goffin and Denis Shapovalov. He followed it with an opening round win against top seed Daniil Medvedev at the Rotterdam ATP 500, returning to the top 100 on the tour.

Coming to Marseille high on confidence, Pospisil was pushed in his opener by young Finnish newcomer Emil Ruusuvuori, but prevailed in straight sets.

While this will be a close second round encounter, it will come down to who plays better on the day. Pospisil has been high on confidence and probably is in marginally better form of the two.

Expect the resurgent Canadian to win in three tight sets.

Egor Gerasimov v Denis Novak Predictions & Preview

Amidst many high profile matchups on Day 3, this match may get missed in the backdrop, but involves two qualifiers with strong stroke-making quality.

Both players are looking to improve their individual consistency on the tour. Gerasimov had a strong end to the 2019 season and was a finalist at the Maharashtra Open in Pune earlier this month.

Novak has been known to bring his best against strong opposition, as we saw at the ATP Cup where he provided a strong second fiddle to Dominic Thiem.

A close match on the cards; but Gerasimov has looked in better form recently and can be expected to emerge victorious in a back and forth three set encounter.

Tip: Gerasimov to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
