Kyle Edmund v Ugo Humbert Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players.

Edmund Hoping to go the Distance This Time

The 24-year-old Edmund has made it to only two ATP finals on the tour, one of which was right here in Marrakech last season. While Edmund lost in the final to Pablo Andujar, it was certainly an accomplishment for him as he lifted his maiden runner-up trophy.

Later in the season, he won the European Open – his first singles title – after defeating Gael Monfils in the final.

Edmund started this season on a rather rocky note with early exits in Brisbane and Melbourne. He then won the Indian Wells Challenger and later reached the fourth round in the Indian Wells Open and Miami Masters. In the latter, he delivered a good performance, beating Milos Raonic in the third round.

Humbert Slowly Building his Form

Humbert’s season so far is mainly comprised of the Frenchman attempting to move past the qualifiers and early rounds.

However, on the Challenger circuit, he was fairly more successful. Humbert reached the semifinal in Quimper, France, and later won his fourth title on the tour in the Le Manche Challenger. These wins helped him gather the much-needed momentum to perform on the ATP Tour.

Following these wins, he played in the ATP Marseille where he was a semifinalist – a feat he achieved after downing the likes of Ernests Gulbis and Borna Coric. As for his performance in the Sunshine Doubles, he lost in the first round in Indian Wells and Miami.

Edmund v Humbert Predictions & Tips

Edmund, given his superior form in comparison to Humbert’s, will start this match as the favourite to win at 1/5 (bet365) . The Frenchman will have a difficult time in upsetting the British No. 1. With the sole exception of the Brisbane International where Edmund lost to a lowly ranked player, all of his losses have come at the hands of big names on the tour.

Tip: Edmund to win 2-0: 4/6 (Betway)
