Cameron Norrie v Lorenzo Sonego Head to Head

The two men have never met before at the ATP level.

Norrie Bouncing Back after Poor Recent Run

Norrie had not won a single match in the three tournaments that he played coming in to Monte-Carlo.

However, he has belied that form since arriving in the Principality, defeating Adrian Mannarino of France in the first round in straight sets, and then repeating that feat against Marton Fucsovics of Hungary on Wednesday.

Key to both those victories was his serve, and he will need it to be firing on all cylinders when he plays Sonego.

The 23-year old Brit, who has just been informed he has gained automatic qualification to Roland Garros this year is not known for his prowess on clay – not only of the finals he played on the junior tours, or his one ATP senior final to date in Auckland earlier this year were played on that surface.

But he has an unexpected chance of a Masters quarter-final, so will be hoping for more progress.

Qualifier Sonego Buoyed by Khachanov Victory

For a man who has relatively little experience on the senior ATP tour, Sonego has taken his chances in Monte-Carlo with both hands. Entering the qualifying competition last week, he battled through two tough matches to make the main draw, but, having got there, promptly disposed of compatriot Andreas Seppi in straight sets.

Better still was his victory over the number eight seed, Karen Khachanov of Russia on Tuesday, again in straight sets. It was a match in which he was dominant on serve, winning 91% of his service games, a level of performance that the Russian could not match.

A clay court specialist, Sonego will believe he will rarely have a better chance of reaching a Masters quarter-final.

Norrie v Sorengo Predictions & Tips

Norrie may be the higher ranked player but Sonego will start favourite for this match at 53/100, whilst Norrie is priced at 8/5. Boosted by the win over Khachanov, the Italian will be full of confidence, playing on the surface he favours best, which puts him at a distinct advantage over his British opponent.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 11/8 (betway)
