Victoria Azarenka v Ashleigh Barty Head to Head
The two ladies have met only once on the WTA Tour and that meeting took place in the last year’s WTA Tokyo. Azarenka won that match 6-4, 6-2.

The 22-year-old Aussie has had an excellent season so far. Having made her debut into the top 10, Barty will be now eager to prove her worth and take Australia to its first World Group Final since 1993.
She won the Miami Open – the biggest title of her career – last month after upsetting some big names along the way like Petra Kvitova, Anett Kontaveit, and Karolina Pliskova. She was also the runner-up in Sydney and a quarterfinalist in the Australian Open.
With a win-loss tally of 18-3, she has fallen only to top 10 players this season, most notably Kvitova and Elina Svitolina.
Even in the Fed Cup quarterfinal against the American side, she won her matches comfortably in straight sets, defeating Sofia Kenin and Madison Keys.
Azarenka Poised to Make Waves
While the season so far hasn’t been that perfect for the Belarusian, most notably on account of her struggles with the form, she has still made sizeable progress.
In Monterrey earlier this month, Azarenka reached her first singles final on the tour since the 2016 Miami Open. She lost to Garbine Muguruza in the final although, it wasn’t a defeat as much as retiring from the match due to illness.
That was one of the better performances this season by the former World No. 1. With the sole exception of Monterrey, she has lost in the early rounds in rest of the tournaments she played in.
Azarenka had a small part to play in her side’s quarterfinal bout against the German team this year. She competed in the doubles match of the tie. However, given her recent turnaround in form, she has now been given a chance to play on the singles circuit too.
Azarenka v Barty Prediction and Tips
Barty has been absolutely phenomenal this season. With an impeccable record over top 10 players and a pretty sensational win in Miami, she is going to start this match as the favourite to win. She also has the advantage of playing in front of her home crowd.
At the same time, Azarenka has considerably more winning experience than Barty. She will eager to build her momentum by knocking out the Aussie side from the Fed Cup. All in all, this match has all the ingredients to be a blockbuster affair.
