Johanna Konta v Zarina Diyas Head to Head
The two ladies have met only once in their careers: the 2015 WTA Eastbourne. Konta won that match in straight sets.
Konta Leading the English Side in Fed Cup
Johanna Konta has been quite instrumental in Great Britain’s performance in the Fed Cup this season. She led her side over impressive wins against Hungary, Greece, and Slovenia in the Group I for the Europe/Africa division.
After topping the Group, she took her team to a comfortable 2-0 win over the Serbian contingent to reach the World Group II Playoffs. Interestingly enough, her side never lost a fixture throughout this spell.
While Konta has been quite clinical on a national level, her performance on the WTA Tour hasn’t been that great. Her best run of the season came in Indian Wells, where she reached the third round. She also reached the same stage in the Mexican Open, losing to Donna Vekic at the end.
The rest of her tournaments mainly saw Konta attempting to move past the early rounds.
A Chance for Diyas to Redeem Herself
Currently ranked in the early 100s, Zarina Diyas has had a pretty mediocre year so far. With exits in opening rounds in a majority of her WTA events, things haven’t exactly gone according to the plan for her.
Her best run came in the 125K Series event in Indian Wells, where she lost in the semifinal to Jennifer Brady. Apart from that, Diyas hasn’t had any sort of discernible run on the tour. Her last event was in Monterrey where she lost in the second round to Victoria Azarenka.
Konta v Diyas Tips and Predictions
This match should prove to be a comfortable win for Johanna Konta. She is competing on home turf and more importantly, has had a better spell on the tour than her Kazakh counterpart. Expect Great Britain to win this part of the World Group II Playoffs rather easily.
