Petra Kvitova v Yulia Putintseva Head to Head

Kvitova and Putintseva have met only once on the tour and that meeting took place in the 2018 Indian Wells Open. The Czech won that match in three sets.

Kvitova Slips in the Rankings

Kvitova, who has had a pretty stunning run this season – particularly on clay, was handed a defeat in Madrid last week in the quarterfinal. As the defending champion, she lost to Kiki Bertens – the same player she defeated in the final last season.

That quarterfinal exit resulted in Kvitova’s ranking drop down to No. 5 position. Nonetheless, she still holds a commanding lead on the WTA Tour with two singles titles and two runner-up trophies under her belt.

She won the Stuttgart Open earlier this season, shortly after reaching the quarterfinal in the Miami Open. The number 2 seed has lost only seven games so far this season and won an impressive 27 matches.

The Birmingham Classic champion is undoubtedly among the most consistent players on the WTA Tour right now, and it is hard to imagine her falling to Putintseva.

Putintseva Looking Shaky

The Kazakh player started her run in Rome with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lesia Tsurenko. That win marked one of the better performances by Putintseva, who has had a rather good season so far.

However, she has failed to perform consistently. For instance, she reached the quarterfinal in Sydney, where she defeated Daria Gavrilova and Sloane Stephens. But after that run, she lost early in Melbourne, St. Petersburg, Dubai, and Indian Wells.

Then, in Miami, she reached the fourth round but once again, she followed that spell with a series of early exits. This wavy form has prevented the 24-year-old from truly taking the tour by the storm.

In Madrid last week, she reached as far as the third round before succumbing to Ashleigh Barty.

Kvitova v Putintseva Predictions & Tips

Putintseva is a talented player who can very well challenge Kvitova. In their last meeting, she managed to drag the match to three sets and the possibility exists here as well. However, it will be a tough ask of her, given the form that the Czech is in right now.

Expect this one to be an entertaining game where Kvitova should come out on the top.

Tip: Under 20.5 games in the match: 10/13 (888Sport)
