Ashleigh Barty v Daria Gavrilova Head to Head

Barty currently holds a 3-1 lead over Gavrilova, defeating World No. 55 as recently as in Madrid a couple of weeks back.

Interestingly, they met in Strasbourg back in 2017 when it was Daria who stunned Barty in a three-set encounter.

Barty Still Marching On

With French Open set to start next week, it is impressive to see Barty still relentlessly marching on the WTA Tour. She has had a packed month so far, starting with the Madrid Open and then the Italian Open.

In the first case, she reached the quarterfinal while in the second, she made it as far as the third round before falling to Kristina Mladenovic. Needless to mention, clay isn’t Barty’s strong suit, seeing that she has never reached singles final on this surface.

The reigning Miami Open champion reached the semifinal here in Strasbourg last season before losing to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. It will be interesting to see how far she goes this time, given that she is the top seed.

She has had a pretty fabulous year so far, reaching the quarterfinal in Melbourne and the final in Sydney and Miami. Through the way, she has moved past top 10 players like Kiki Bertens, Simona Halep, and Petra Kvitova, to establish her rank on the tour.

Gavrilova Out of Form

Gavrilova is heading into this fixture on the back of a 2-11 win-loss tally. The last time she reached a final on the tour was in the 2017 Hong Kong Open.

She never moved past the first round in the Australian Open series and didn’t land her first win on the tour up until she reached Indian Wells, where she made it to the third round.

Sadly, following that loss, Gavrilova fell into the same rut again and lost her opening matches in Miami, Rabat, Madrid, and most recently, Rome. However, it isn’t to say that the 25-year-old Aussie hasn’t got the skill set to perform on the tour.

Through her career, she has defeated a few Grand Slam champions like Kvitova, Angelique Kerber, and Maria Sharapova.

Barty v Gavrilova Predictions & Tips

Barty is going to start this match as the overwhelming favourite to win. There is no doubt in that. Given the form Gavrilova is in right now, it is hard to imagine her topple World No. 9.

Tip: Under 19.5 games in the match: 4/5 (888Sport)
