Hubert Hurkacz v Pablo Cuevas Head to Head

This will be the first ever clash between Hurkacz and Cuevas which is not too strange as the Polish youngster has broken into the ATP circuit this year and has been playing mostly challengers in previous seasons while experienced Uruguayan played mostly ATP tournaments for the last decade, with exception of some South American challengers here and there.

Cuevas has a 475-237 record on clay which will be his big advantage against Hurkacz who is 69-38 on it in his young career.

Hurkacz Steadily Climbing The Rankings

Before the year started, Hurkacz was 86th ranked but has managed to improve drastically and is 43rd at the moment, with chances to be 39th if he wins this match.

His record in 2019 is 19-12, with the Canberra challenger being his only title so far, alongside a few good Masters performances (Indian Wells quarterfinals, Madrid round of 16 from the qualifiers).

This by all standards a good season for the Polish player and he should be even better in the second part of the year when we get to the grass and outdoor-indoor hard surfaces, where his big serve and aggressive style of play should bring him even more success.

Cuevas Playing Great Clay Court Tennis This Year

Although he looked like he’s on the decline after pretty average previous two seasons (25-22 in 2017 and 27-23 in 2018) Cuevas proved everyone wrong and has already managed to win 29 games in this year.

His overall record is 29-12 but he’s been especially amazing on clay where he won 25 of 33 matches and got two challenger titles (Tunis and Aix en Provence), one ATP finals (Estoril, lost to unbelievable Tsitsipas) and two more semifinals (Cordoba and Rio de Janeiro).

This great clay run put him into the top 50 once again and he could be top 30 before the year ends if he continues playing like this as he is defending only 165 points by the end of the season.

Hubert Hurkacz v Pablo Cuevas Predictions & Tips

Expect a big fight and a close match here as the quality difference between these players is not big at the moment, with Hurkacz being a better server and can hit stronger but Cuevas is better at defence, has much more experience and is better on clay. That’s why, there is a good chance for over 22.5 games in this encounter.

Tip Over 22.5 games for the match 10/11 (888Sport)
