Konta Continues to be Clinical
So far, the British No. 1 has enjoyed a pretty good run in Eastbourne. She made it to the third round without dropping a single set, with her most recent victim being Maria Sakkari.
The Greek is a formidable opponent but Konta made little work of her as she dispatched Sakkari in straight sets with 6-4, 7-6(4). She kept her first service win-rate above 73% and looked comfortable throughout the match. Before meeting the Greek, she defeated Dayana Yastremska with a similar score.
Konta, who is playing in front of her home crowd, had a scintillating run on clay, reaching two finals and one semifinal in big competitions. Those performances helped her crack the top 20 once again and now, she is looking confident to go further.
Jabeur with Her Best Run of the Year
The 24-year-old Tunisian arrived in Eastbourne with a win-loss record of 6-11 but these numbers are set to improve. In the Nature Valley International, she has delivered the best performance of her season by reaching the third round.
It was a feat that Jabeur achieved with some difficulty, starting with a three-set win over Evgeniya Rodina and later, moving past Mandy Minella with 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. In all of the previous tournaments, she never moved past the second round, including the Libema Open and Mallorca Open.
Needless to mention, she isn’t in that great of a form of late and it is hard to imagine her topple Konta in a tournament where the Brit is the favourite.
Konta v Jabeur Predictions & Tips
We can expect Konta to win this one in straight sets too. The number 14 seed has been quite efficient throughout the competition and given her recent form, it shouldn’t be a problem for her.
