Karen Khachanov v Kwon Soon Woo Head to Head
The two men have played never played each other before – this will be the first meeting between the world number nine and the man ranked 117 places below him.
Khachanov, Maiden Grand Slam Quarter-Finalist in Paris
Khachanov comes into Wimbledon after having reached his maiden Grand Slam quarter-final at Roland Garros. He was beaten then by Dominic Thiem, but his run in France would have given great confidence to a man better known for his hard court performances.
This will be his third time in the main draw at Wimbledon, and he will be looking to at least emulate his feat of last year, when he reached the fourth round only to be easily beaten by the eventual winner Novak Djokovic.
He has played two grass tournaments since Paris, at Stuttgart and Halle, and his nemesis on each occasion has been the Italian Matteo Berrettini. Fortunately for the Russian, the draw has kept them apart this time.
Kwon, A Rare South Korean Qualifier
21-year-old Kwon Soon Woo is in the main draw at Wimbledon for the first time, having battled through three rounds of qualifying to get here. First he beat Joao Domingo of Portugal, then Marc Polams of Australia, before seeing off the challenge of the experienced German Daniel Brands.
This will be his second time in a Grand Slam event – he also qualified for the Australian Open last year.
Kown spends most of his time on the Challenger tour where he has enjoyed a fair degree of success, picking up two titles this year – at Yokohama in Japan, and again in Seoul last month in front of his home fans.
His best recent performance on grass came earlier this month in the Challenger event in Surbiton. He and his partner Ramkumar Ramanathan reached the final of the doubles, only to lose to Marcel Granoliers and Ben McLachlan.

Khachanov is heavy odds-on favourite to progress from this math. The South Korean has dobne very well to even get this far, but itis edspecting a lot for him to beat the Russian and he is priced at 3/1.
