Roger Federer v Lloyd Harris Head to Head

The two players have never met on the ATP circuit. In fact, when Federer was drawn against Harris in the opening round, not many around the tennis world were too familiar with the name.

Federer in Search for Ninth Wimbledon Title

Eight Time Wimbledon champion and perhaps one of the greatest to ever play at SW19, Roger Federer returns to Wimbledon at the age of 37 to begin yet another campaign in search for yet another major title.

There are not a lot of accolades that the Swiss has not achieved on the grass, but he is five wins short of another record- becoming the first man to 100 Wimbledon match victories.

Federer has had a good year after a disappointing fourth round loss at the Australian Open to Greek sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas, winning three titles at Dubai, Madrid and Halle and being the only player to do so this year. He has solidified his world number three ranking and is seeded second at Wimbledon, given his record on grass.

The Swiss legend comes to Wimbledon, after a good clay season (playing after three years) and winning a tenth Halle title. He begins his campaign against South African Lloyd Harris.

Can Little Known Harris Leave an Impression?

22-year-old South African Lloyd Harris is not a name one has heard too often. But, he is the number two ranked South African player on the ATP circuit (behind Kevin Anderson) and plays Roger Federer on Centre Court at Wimbledon. He is currently ranked a career high number 87 on the ATP circuit.

Harris turned professional in 2015, and was ranked around world number 400 at the end of the year. He is the winner of three ATP Challenger titles and 13 ITF singles titles. The 2019 French Open was the first time he won a match at a Grand Slam and at age 22, with a promising game, he will hope to better that multiple times in the years to come.

At 6’5”, Harris has a good serve and being a doubles player, is confident at the net as well, summing up the requisite ingredients for a well suited grass court game.

Federer v Harris Predictions & Tips

Harris has been on the circuit for a couple years and performed well on the ATP Challenger and ITF Futures titles. At 22, he is up and coming and has definitely shown promise. But, on Centre Court at Wimbledon, to be up against Roger Federer is overwhelming for most veterans on the circuit. It is difficult to expect Harris to cause much, if any, trouble to Federer in this arena. Federer to get his Wimbledon campaign started with a routine straight sets victory..

Tip: Djokovic to win 3-0: 1/2 (888Sport)
