Novak Djokovic v Herbert Hurkacz Head to Head

The players have met once on the ATP circuit, at the opening round of the French Open earlier this year, which Djokovic won comfortably in straight sets.

Djokovic Looking To Week Two

World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic has looked untroubled in his first two rounds as he seeks a 5th Wimbledon and a 16th Grand Slam title. The Serb has fond memories of winning the Wimbledon title last year, where he announced his comeback, after a difficult two years, with indifferent form and injuries. Djokovic has since gone on to win the US Open and Australian Open and fell short in the French Open semi-finals.

Despite not playing any of the grass warm-up tournaments, Djokovic has looked comfortable and fluent in his first two rounds against Philipp Kohlschreiber and Denis Kudla. 2019 has been a somewhat off and on year for the world number one since winning the Australian Open, most recently resulting in a semi-finals loss to Dominic Thiem at the French Open.

With encouraging performances thus far at Wimbledon, and with his draw opening up with Stefanos Tsitsitpas and Alexander Zverev losing early, Djokovic will be feeling good about another deep run at Wimbledon.

Hurkacz Hoping to Continue Strong Year

22-year-old unseeded Polish Hubert Hurkacz has been in fine form in 2019, moving up the ATP rankings to a career high 41. Hurkacz had a good run at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 earlier this year, taking out Kei Nishikori and Denis Shapovalov, before losing to Roger Federer in the quarter finals. Hurkacz has been on the tour for a relatively short period of time, but made inroads already.

The hard-hitting Hurkacz has looked to attack the serve of his opponents and done so successfully thus far. He had a good start to the year and kept it going through Dubai, Indian Wells and the clay season. He will be happy with his performance at Wimbledon thus far with four set victories against Leonardo Mayer and Dusan Lajovic

The Pole will be aware that his game needs to be at the best level, to challenge Novak Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic v Herbert Hurkacz Predictions & Tips

Hurkacz will look to be at his hard hitting best and attack the Djokovic serve. He does have the tools to unsettle the Serb, but it will nevertheless be a tall order. Djokovic, with his vast array of tricks and experience, will probably have too much in the bag for Hurkacz. Expect Djokovic to win in straight sets.

Tip: Djokovic to win in straight sets: 4/6 (888Sport)
