Fabio Fognini v Stefano Travaglia Head to Head
The two players have met once, at the US Open in 2017 in the first round , which Travaglia won in 4 sets, including a 6-0 victory in the deciding set. It was a disappointing performance by Fognini who faced 18 break points in 4 sets and was broken 10 times, making all of nine double faults.

Italian veteran Fabio Fognini is currently at an all-time ATP career high ranking of number 9, and is just behind Russian Daniil Medvedev in the race to the ATP Tour Finals in London, who is eighth.
Fognini has had among the best clay court seasons of his career, winning the ATP Masters 1000 at Monte Carlo, and defeating Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the semi-finals en route the title.
His performance throughout the clay season was consistent, and was expected to be a dark horse going into the French Open. Fognini had a good first week at Roland Garros and was up a set against Alexander Zverev in the fourth round, but was unable to capitalize and lost the next three sets.
Fognini, while extremely talented, lacks in consistency and at times allows the circumstances to get the better of him, like the recently concluded Wimbledon, where he lost in straight sets to American Tennys Sandgren. The match had its fair share of moments, where Fognini was unable to control his emotions and temper.
Can Travaglia Repeat his US Open 2017 Performance?
Italian Stefano Travaglia turned professional in 2011, but has largely featured in ATP Challenger and ITF Futures titles.
He is currently ranked 105th in the ATP world rankings. Travaglia’s best result on the tour incidentally has been a first round upset of Fabio Fognini at the US Open in 2017.
Travaglia, like most Italian tennis players is a solid baseliner with good groundstrokes and has performed well winning ATP Challenger titles on the clay.
His first round opponent at the Croatia Open was another Italian Thomas Fabbiano, who he beat in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

Although Travaglia won his only match against Fognini, their careers have moved in very different directions.
Fognini is ranked within the top 10 and has had one of his best years on the circuit. Travaglia on the other hand, has largely played ATP Challenger level tournaments in recent times. Fognini is the better and more experienced player and has had a good year, especially on the clay.
It is unlikely that Fognini will be challenged much in this match and one can expect a straight sets win for the experienced Italian.
