Amanda Anisimova v Madison Brengle Head to Head

This is their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Anisimova, A Star in the Making

The 17-year-old American has quickly emerged as one of the rising stars on the WTA circuit. Currently enjoying her career-best singles ranking at World No. 23, she is well on her way to crack the top 20.

Anisimova attained prominence in the best way possible – by putting up a commanding performance in the Grand Slams this season. She reached the fourth round in the Australian Open and later, won her first singles title in the WTA Bogota.

Later in the year, the young American reached the semifinal in the French Open by knocking out the likes of Aryna Sabalenka and Simona Halep. But at the same time, she is yet to build her consistency and form, considering that she has also succumbed in the early rounds in many events this season.

For instance, she last played in the Wimbledon where she was knocked out by Magda Linette in the second round.

Brengle, Seeking a Much-Needed Win

Madison Brengle started her run in San Jose with a straight-set win over Andrea Petkovic. Alternating between a series of ITF and WTA stints, the 29-year-old American has been fighting hard to build some traction.

In the former, she has had a lot of success – World No. 78 won the ITF title in Berkely and reached the final in Charlottesville. In the latter, however, the best she has done is reaching the quarterfinal in Nurnberg. She is also yet to win her first singles title.

To prepare for the US Open series, Brengle spent some time on the ITF circuit practising and it will be interesting to see how she fares against Anisimova. While she is certainly light years ahead in terms of experience, skills and abilities is a whole different ball game to consider.

Anisimova v Brengle Prediction & Tips

Despite the massive age difference between the two, we can expect an entertaining, competitive match here. Anisimova will put up a good fight and having enjoyed a bye into the second round, she will be eager to get things rolling. As for Brengle, she will need to bring her A-game and put early pressure to avoid the defeat.

Tip: Over 16.5 games in the match. (888Sport)
