Donna Vekic v Kristie Ahn Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players on the circuit.

Ahn with a Scintillating Run

Starting as a qualifier and currently ranked in the late 100s, Kristie Ahn has definitely turned the tide of her form around in San Jose by delivering her best performance in a WTA event.

Playing mainly on the ITF circuit, the 27-year-old American had a couple of eventful spells in Japan and Berkeley, reaching the semifinal in the two instances. She was also the runner-up in the ITF tournament in Rancho Sante Fe.

This competition in San Jose is one of the few WTA events that Ahn has featured in this season. So far, she has done a commendable job by defeating the likes of Ajla Tomljanovic and Elise Mertens to reach the quarters. With that, she has also assured herself of decent prize money and a significant boost in the rankings.

It is also a good chance for Ahn to make a discernible run, who around the same time last year was struggling a lot with her form.

Business as Usual for Vekic

Donna Vekic has already made it to two singles final this season and by the looks of it, she is on the path to reach her third one in San Jose. Starting as the fifth seed, she has impressed the spectators through with her tennis by knocking out Misaki Doi and most recently, former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka.

Currently ranked at the 25th position on the tour, Vekic’s form took a slight hit after her final run in Nottingham. She eventually lost in the opener in Birmingham and Wimbledon before finding her spirit once again in this competition.

She has been more or less impressive in most of the tournaments this season, thus proving that she is a force to be reckoned with. In her wake, she has also defeated many top players like Kiki Bertens and Petra Kvitova, making her more dangerous with every game.

Vekic v Ahn Prediction & Tips

Vekic will be expected to win this one in three sets, if not straight. She has the form, experience, and momentum needed to knock out Ahn, irrespective of how formidable she looks at the moment.

Tip: Over 16.5 games in the match. (888Sport)
