Caroline Wozniacki v Yulia Putintseva Head to Head

The tally is tied at 1-1, with the last win going in the favour of the Dane. They met back in the 2017 WTA Sydney, where Wozniacki won in straight sets.

Wozniacki Looking to Make Amends

Wozniacki, who has been seeded 15th for the tournament in Toronto, started the season inside the top three. However, on account of injuries and illness, she was forced to withdraw from a couple of big events early in the season.

This, combined with the subsequent loss in form, took her out of the top 10. At the moment, she is World No. 18 with her run to the final in Charleston being her sole highlight of the season. Moreover, the Dane also went without a win in three consecutive tournaments before finding her winning ways in Eastbourne.

However, much to her chagrin, Wozniacki struggled on grass as well and the best she could do was reach the third round in Eastbourne and Wimbledon, losing respectively to Aryna Sabalenka and Shuai Zhang.

Putintseva, A Dangerous Opponent

The 24-year-old Kazakh has had a pretty decent season so far. She won the maiden singles title of her career in Nuremberg, shortly after which she cracked into the top 30. Putintseva also enjoyed a very respectable run in Birmingham and Miami Masters, where she reached the quarterfinal and the fourth round respectively.

Of course, at the same time, Putintseva hasn’t been that consistent altogether, amassing only two wins in her last couple of tournaments. She isn’t that formidable when it comes to playing against the top players and that may very well be a factor here.

Wozniacki v Putintseva Prediction & Tips

Wozniacki should win this one comfortably but given her year so far, it is quite likely that she will be pushed to the limits here. Despite her massive winning experience, the Dane has been struggling with her form considerably and there is no reason why Yulia cannot take advantage of that.

Tip: Over 16.5 games in the match. (888Sport)
