Kiki Bertens v Francesca Di Lorenzo Head to Head

This is their first meeting on the tour since their last match in the second round of the 2018 US Open. Bertens sailed to a comfortable victory in that match in straight sets.

Bertens, Looking Clinical

If there is one player who has been absolutely at the top of her game, it is Bertens. With a win-loss record of 40-15 and two singles titles in the WTA St. Petersburg and Madrid Open, she has established herself as a domineering force on the tour.

Even considering her defeats in the year, a good number of them have come at the hands of some top players like Petra Kvitova, Ashleigh Barty, and Johanna Konta. Bertens has been nothing but clinical in her approach this season and it is by that virtue that she is World No. 5 right now.

In addition to the two trophies, the Dutch also reached the final in ‘S-Hertogenbosch and the Palermo Open, losing respectively to Alison Riske and Jill Teichmann. That makes Bertens one of the few players to reach a final on every surface on the tour in 2019. These terrific runs aside, Bertens has also reached the penultimate rounds on numerous occasions.

Di Lorenzo, with a Commanding Win

The 22-year-old American started her run in Rogers Cup as a qualifier and made it to the main draw on the back of a good run. In the opener, she knocked out the veteran Croat Petra Martic – a quarterfinalist in this year’s French Open.

With that brilliant win over Martic, Di Lorenzo has certainly sent out a strong message to Bertens. Even though she has mainly restricted herself to the ITF circuit, the American has definitely got some skills needed to take the Dutch head-on. But at the same time, she lacks the experience and finesse that may take her through rounds in Toronto.

Bertens v Di Lorenzo Prediction & Tips

Bertens should win this match comfortably, given her recent form and momentum. Expect no surprises here.

Tip: Under 16.5 games in the match. (888Sport)
