Yastremska, in a Clinical Form
So far this season, Yastremska has done nothing but impressed the spectators with her quality tennis and ability to produce remarkable shots. With two singles titles in – WTA Hua Hin and Strasbourg, she is currently in the top 40.
At just 19 years of age, she has achieved quite a bit already and as she grows, her raw talent is likely to gain more finesse, maturity, and strength. It is interesting to note that her winning spells are often separated by erratic bouts of opening-round defeats.
For instance, after winning in Hua Hin, she had a poor showing in six consecutive tournaments before winning in Strasbourg. A similar spell followed after her run in that French tournament too. Wozniacki, Seeking a Change in Fortunes
Around the same time last season, Wozniacki was in a good form, enjoying life as a top 10 players and winning some major titles in the process. However, things have quickly turned gloomy for the China Open champion, as she struggles to get back on the track.
Since her runner-up feat in Charleston earlier this year, she has featured in six tournaments. In these six events, she has bagged only five wins. She went without a win on the clay swing in Europe while in the subsequent competitions, the best she could do was reach the third round.
She played in Toronto like the others last week and unfortunately, was handed a rather tough defeat by Iga Swiatek – the Polish qualifier, in the second round.

If Yastremska continues to shine as she did in the Rogers Cup last week, Wozniacki is in a great deal of trouble. The key here for the young Ukranian is to play with maturity and not let the emotions get the better of her. She has already proven herself as a formidable opponent time and again. As for the Dane, she will need to dig into her experience and motivate herself to avoid another blunderous result.
