Karolina Pliskova v Rebecca Peterson Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.
Pliskova in Contention for No. 1 Crown
Karolina Pliskova has been in a scintillating form this season, as she continues to establish her dominance on the tour. Having been a consistent part of the top five, she has truly become a force to be reckoned with.
With her 40 wins through the year marked by just 11 defeats and three singles titles – one on each surface, Pliskova has been absolutely clinical and to a certain level, dangerous. While she most recently won the title in Eastbourne, she followed that win with an early loss in the Wimbledon.
Preparing her bid for the US Open title, her preparations have been on the right track so far. In the Rogers Cup last week, she succumbed to the eventual champion Bianca Andreescu in the quarterfinal. Such defeats mark her current season and not-so-surprisingly, only a few of them have come at the hands of players outside the top 10.
In addition to the three titles she won, Pliskova was also a finalist in the Miami Open. As for her current run in Cincinnati, she powered past Yafan Wang in the opener with 6-1, 6-3.
Peterson’s Best-Run in Recent Weeks
Struggling with her form, the 24-year-old Rebecca Peterson will be pleased with her performance so far in the Western & Southern Open. As a qualifier, she reached the third round after knocking out Johanna Konta and Veronika Kudermetova in three sets each.
Currently ranked in the early 70s, it hasn’t been that great of a season for the Swede. Mostly, she has succumbed in the early rounds itself, including her stint in Toronto last week where she lost in the qualifiers. The best Peterson has managed is reaching the third round in Rabat and Eastbourne.
Pliskova v Peterson Prediction & Tips
Pliskova should be able to win this match comfortably. She has the odds in her favour and also has the momentum, form, and experience needed to dispatch someone as out-of-form as Peterson.
Tip: Under 20.5 games in the match: 83/100 (888Sport)
