Felix Auger-Aliassime v Denis Shapovalov Head to Head

There have been three matches played between these two players, with Shapovalov leading 2-1 on head to head. This includes a meeting at the 2018 US Open as well in which Shapovalov won at one set apiece and 4-1 in the third because of an Auger-Aliassime injury. At the Madrid Masters on clay earlier this year though, Auger-Aliassime won in straight sets.

Auger-Aliassime at His Career-Best Ranking

Ranked 19th in the world, this is Auger-Aliassime’s best ranking and his showing this season shines through even more brightly when one considers he was ranked 189th in the world midway through the previous year. He started this year at an improved 106th on the ATP Rankings, but what followed thereafter has been a stuff of dreams.

A finals appearance at the Rio de Janeiro Open was followed by seven wins in a row starting from the qualifying rounds at the Miami Masters, taking him to the semi-final there. In the end, John Isner ended his run there in two tie-breakers.

As if to prove he isn’t a one-trick pony, the Canadian made the final on the grass of Stuttgart, and semi-final at the Queen’s competition, before entering the third round at Wimbledon.

Auger-Aliassime hasn’t had a brilliant time during the US Open series, with a first round loss at Cincinnati but with all the form behind him, he could prove to be a handful for most.

Winston-Salem Semi-Finalist Shapovalov Hoping the Rhythm is Back

Ranked 20th in the world at one stage in his career, Shapovalov is now 38th having entered the US Open series with some shoddy performances on other surfaces. First round defeats at Stuttgart, Queen’s Club and Wimbledon had been preceded by a 2-6 win-loss record on clay this year, a poor showing that pulled his ranking down.

The good news is there were signs of Shapovalov of regaining some of his rhythm, beating Andrey Rublev on his way to the Winston-Salem semi-final but will that be enough to challenge an opponent who is on a rise? Sounds like a difficult proposition for Shapovalov, who had made the third round last US Open and fourth round before that.

Felix Auger-Aliassime v Denis Shapovalov Predictions & Tips

Interestingly, Shapovalov has been tipped as a favourite to win this by almost all bookmakers, an offer of 10/11 coming handy for those wanting to go with it. We think Auger-Aliassime holds the edge here, and the odds of 21/20 will be good to take as well for it.

Tip: Auger-Aliassime to win: 21/20 (888Sport)
