Mladenovic, with a Similar Rut
Currently ranked World No. 3 on the doubles circuit, Kristina Mladenovic hasn’t had a lot of success in replicating that kind of form on the singles tour. While she has had her fair share of stunning results – defeating Angelique Kerber in the first round in the US Open – the Frenchwoman hasn’t quite been able to build on those results.
With a win-loss tally of 22-21, her best result of the season came in the Italian Open where she was a quarterfinalist, being a qualifier. In a majority of the tournaments, she has always succumbed in the early stages.
While she had an easy started against Yingying Duan in the first round in Zhengzhou, it is hard to say how far she will go. Mladenovic hasn’t been among the most consistent player on the tour as such, after all.
