According to the latest buzz, Novak Djokovic might have to undergo a surgery to his left shoulder.
The world number one Djokovic had an unfortunate end to this year’s majors tournament in US Open. He was looking to lift the third slam of the season, but was sadly cut short in his bid as he could not continue playing with his injured left shoulder. Djokovic retired against Stan Wawrinka in the third set of their fourth round match.
Things didn’t look too bat at the time though, as he announced after the match that he would in fact continue with the season after the US Open. Fans who feared the worst were reassured when he said he was looking forward to competing in Japan.

But things look like they might have change. According to New York Post, Djokovic may need surgery to remedy his ailing shoulder. The surgery would be a minor one, but with surgery comes recovery which takes some time.
If this is true, he will likely miss the rest of the season which still has a lot of points on offer. He will also miss the ATP World Tour Finals, which offers a maximum of 1500 points, and also the Shanghai and Paris Masters along with the China Open.
The major issue with this is that Nadal is closing in on his No. 1 ranking. But Nadal himself is set to take a break from tennis in October, as he plans in getting married to his longtime girlfriend.
Djokovic’s surgery is only a rumour for the moment and we won’t know what is happening until he announces something officially. But surely if it is required, he will definitely not hesitate with the option for surgery.
As he has declared multiple times this season, the Grand Slams are the most important tournaments for him particularly now, as he looks to reduce the bao between himself and Nadal and Federer. If surgery gets him fully fit and raring to go at the Australian Open in January next year, he will certainly go for it.
