Elena Rybakina v Shuai Peng Preview:
This will be the first match that Elena Rybakina and Shuai Peng will be facing off at the highest level, but with the 69th-ranked Rybakina showing the kind of form she has recently, it does not come as a surprise she will start off as a heavy favourite in this one. She did get knocked out in round one of the US Open but not before she won the title at the Bucharest Open.
Peng is looking to make a comeback into the fold. She is a two-time former winner but more vitally, this once 14th-ranked player who is now 132nd in the world, will be hoping she takes that step further towards a surprise title win.
Because for someone who won the Houston Open last year, it has been a season to forget, with Shuai having gone into the US Open on the back of a seven-match losing streak. She needed three wins during the qualifiers to get through to the main draw and then won a round there that could have brought her confidence back.
Still, Rybakina should get the better of Peng easily here.

Rebecca Peterson v Nina Stojanovic Preview:
Another match played, another match won by Nina Stojanovic. As as we had said in our previous preview, the 23-year-old Serb has displayed some dazzling form in recent times with a title win at Changsha and three wins in this tournament as well, making it eight wins in eight matches, in which she has lost just one set.
That set loss came in the match before this one, against Kateryna Kozlova, when she lost the first set in a tie-breaker but Stojanovic stormed back to win the next two.
Peterson, ranked 78th in the world, had made the second round at the US Open earlier this month and now defeated Magda Linette in the quarter-final to make this last-four stage. She is facing Stojanovic for the first time but given her recent showing on hard court surfaces – a third round appearance in Cincinnati after going through the qualifiers – might give her an edge.
Peterson v Stojanovic Tip: Peterson to win: 14/25 (888Sport)
