The 2019 edition of the Laver Cup will be held this week starting on Friday, September 20, and will be played over three days leading up to Sunday. Palexpo will play host to the competition as the Teams Europe and World go head to head in a potentially exciting match-up.

Who is Playing?
Led by Bjorn Borg, Team Europe has a glittering array of stars who will feature for them again this season. In Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer they have two of the best players of all times while fifth-ranked Dominic Thiem, sixth-ranked Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, ranked seventh and the 11th-ranked Fabio Fognini are the other players who will be part of the Team Europe this Laver Cup.
The Team World has John McEnroe as their captain what with John Isner as their best player according to the ATP Rankings. Other than that, Milos Raonic, Nick Kyrgios, Taylor Fritz, Denis Shapovalov and Jack Sock will all be in action at this year’s competition.
What’s the Point System?
The point system continues to be different and slightly wacky if one may add. Matches on day one are worth a point each, on day two they earn you two points each and winning a match on the third day will earn a whopping three points. A total of three singles and a doubles match is played every day, which means four points are on offer on day one, eight on day two and 12 on the third day.

Who’s Won the Laver Cup Before?
Team Europe are two-time defending champions, having won the title 15-9 in 2017 and then repeated the dose with a 13-8 victory in 2018.
Interestingly, Jack Sock has played the most number of matches across the two editions of the competition with eight to his name while Federer comes a close second with seven. Isner has played six, while Nick Kyrgios and Alexander Zverev have been involved in five apiece.
