Rafael Nadal v Milos Raonic Preview

The second-ranked Rafael Nadal will take the once-third-ranked Canadian, Milos Raonic in what could get to be an exciting battle given the context of the encounter. Now you give Nadal a best-of-five match against most players, you know the Spaniard would go into the match as a super heavy-weight fighting someone couple of categories lower – it would be that one-sided.

However, this is a best-of-three match with a third set that’s a Super Tie-Breaker and that levels the playing field a tad. Only a tad though because according to the bookmakers this still remains a one-sided contest between a guy who has just won the US Open and is 27/100 to win the match and another who last played in the second round of the Montreal Masters.

And then there’s also a matter of their history. 11 matches played, Nadal has won nine. However, Raonic could take heart from the fact that the last time they met in a best-of-three match, the Canadian sailed through to the semi-final of that tournament in Brisbane.

There were a few fitness concerns around Nadal too even taking that into consideration and the fact that Raonic is himself coming back from his own health issues, the Spaniard remains a humongous favourite to pocket this.

Tip: Nadal to win: 27/100 with 888Sport

Rafael Nadal/Stefanos Tsitsipas v Nick Kyrgios/Jack Sock Preview

This is an interesting pairing in that Nadal had defeated Tsitsipas at the Australian Open and the Greek wasn’t too happy about his loss and ended up saying things that might have been misconstrued by the Spaniard. And now they are together, on the same side of the net, looking to tackle the threat from Nick Kyrgios and Jack Sock.

And Nadal and Kyrgios have a history of their own, with the Aussie taking potshots at the world number two on a regular basis. But then Nadal isn’t alone when it comes to being the object of Kyrgios’ attention and that should make for an interesting duel.

The fourth guy in the mix, Jack Sock, is an interesting case. He is ranked outside the top 200, was drafted in because he is a doubles champ and a former number two in it, had a solid record at the last two seasons of the Laver Cup and yet won his singles match yesterday and lost his doubles!

All in all, an interesting match-up that, very frankly, is very tough to call but we will have to go with Kyrgios and Sock to win this in the third set.

Tip: Kyrgios/Sock to win (Best odds with 888Sport)
