Sabalenka, the Defending Champion
Wuhan Open is a special tournament for the young Belarusian as this is where she truly rose to prominence last season. This is her biggest singles title on the circuit and that winning run put her on the map of the tennis circuit.
This time, her chances, although stiff, are favourable on account of her recent form. Fresh off her US Open doubles title with Elise Mertens, Sabalenka is sailing high on confidence and will be hoping to replicate that success all through the Asian swing.
The San Jose Open runner-up played in Shenzhen last week where she lost to Petra Martic in the third round. These kinds of results have marked most of her reason and now, Aryna will look to improve her statistics as we approach the end of the 2019 WTA Tour.
